How We Started
We are a family operated book store located in the historic West Main
neighborhood of Buena Vista, Colorado, on the banks of the Arkansas
River in the Colorado Rockies.
Owners Owen and Kathy Lentz
had former lives as an Air Force Officer and Accountant, respectively.
Retirement is very rewarding as we meet folks from everywhere without
having to travel!
After opening the Book Nook in late 2008 with
books garnered from three family libraries, we quickly discovered that
many people still appreciate shopping surrounded by books other people
have cherished and passed on.

What We're About We specialize in quality used books, fun and educational toys, games, art supplies, regional folk art and a growing collection of vintage items. We hand-pick each book on the shelves, greatly influenced by input from our customers.
In addition, we order both new and used books for customers and research hard-to-find items.
We want to contribute to our community's and our visitors' love of reading and joy of learning one book at a time.

If you are browsing this website, you can check our online book inventory. When you find a book you'd like, contact us and we'll set it aside for you to pick up or mail it to you.
We have many more books than are listed in our online inventory. Many unlisted books are found in our Book Barn behind the main building. We also order new and used books and do book searches for hard-to-find titles.
